We are glad to announce that “2017 Hong Kong International Sports Medicine Symposium (HKISMS)” will be held at the Hong Kong Sports Institute on Sep 29-30, 2017. It provides a unique opportunity for attendees to share, discuss and learn the latest advancements in sports medicine from emergency care to rehabilitation for sport injury. It also offers a variety of new and cutting edge on field emergency care techniques and approaches to clinical treatment, combined with overviews of current practice in rehabilitation management. [Presidential Lecture Speaker]
Prof Freddie Fu - Prof. Freddie Fu is the David Silver Professor and Chairman of Department of Orthopaedic Surgery, University of Pittsburgh School of Medicine and the Distinguished Service Professor, University of Pittsburgh. Prof Fu’s major research interest lies in anatomic Anterior Cruciate Ligament (ACL) reconstruction, clinical outcomes, and bioengineering of sports-related problems with over 600 peer-reviewed articles published. Prof. Fu is the pioneer of many arthroscopic surgical techniques in knee, who has completed over 8000 ACL surgeries for the past three decades. Prof Fu is an expert and pioneer in sports medicine and has treated numerous famous elite athletes for the past 30 years, including Roberto Baggio and the most recent one - Zlatan Ibrahimović of Manchester United. He has also been devoting much of his time in providing professional trainings for young orthopedic surgeons and fellows from all over the world including Hong Kong and Japan. Up to date, more than 800 fellows have received his trainings. He will share with us on “Innovation in Sports Medicine: Is the Latest the Greatest?”

Dr. Andy SMITH - As the “Immediate Care in Sport” Programme Director of the Rugby Football Union in England, Dr. Andy Smith is a leader and pioneer in this field. He is passionate about the training of medical personnel in sports. His talk will be on "On-field Emergency Care in Major Sports Events."
Dr. Pieter D‘HOOGHE - Dr. Pieter D’Hooghe is the Associate Chief of Surgery for Research at the Department of Orthopaedic Surgery in Aspetar Hospital, Doha, Qatar. He specializes in arthroscopic surgery of the ankle and foot, knee, and hip. Prior to working in Aspetar, he spent 17 years as team physician/surgeon of FC Club Bruges in Belgium. He will present on “Current Advances in Managing Ankle Sprain in The Athlete”
Dr. Jin-Young PARK - Dr. Jin-Young Park is the director of NEON orthopaedic clinic. Before starting the clinic, he was a director of orthopedic department in Konkuk university medicine school and deputy president of Konkuk university hospital. Dr. Park is also the member of Korea baseball organization (KBO) and International Board of Shoulder & Elbow Surgery. He will share with us about “State of The Art in Managing Shoulder Dislocation, from Conservative to Operative Treatment”

[Special Lunch Session Speaker]
Prof. Michael BENNETT - Prof. Michael Bennett has decades of experience in Diving Medicine and Hyperbaric Oxygen Therapy. He has published a large number of articles on Hyperbaric Medicine related medical issues, he has also contributed to the HBOT Chapter in the Harrison's Internal Medicine. His talk will be on "Diving Emergencies and Management."
